‘Hidden Treasures’ on runway
Student designers to display their new collection May 7-8
Los Angeles, CA –
Modeling new apparel designs and innovative clothing creations, Cal
State L.A.’s Fashion Association of Design Students (FADS) will
showcase “Hidden Treasures” at its 18th Annual Fashion Show—Thursday
and Friday, May 7 and 8—at the University-Student Union, Los
Angeles Room, on the Cal State L.A. campus.
The May 7 dress rehearsal is free to the public. Tickets to the May 8
formal fashion show are $5 at the door. The doors open each evening at
7 p.m. and the shows begin at 7:30 p.m.
Both evenings will showcase designs by the following students in the Cal
State L.A.
Art department’s Fashion and Textiles Program: Mercedes Avila,
Gaby Castellanos, Melanie De Jesus, Aurelio Gonzalez,
Connie Hang, Asma Khan, Pei Fen Ko, Shannon
Lindsay-Frugis, Stephanie Martinez, Swanntje Miller,
Kristina Normis, Mayra Orozco, Roya Shariff,
Brian Staton, Britni Stewart, Omar Tellez, Asailia
Uribe, and Catherine Yoo.
Under faculty direction by Rebecca Davis of Lomita, Carol
Tuntland of Huntington Beach, Carole Lung of Huntington
Beach, and Caroline Mercier of Hollywood, FADS organizes the
annual Cal State L.A. Fashion Show. Initiated in 1991, the show prepares
art students specializing in fashion design, fashion merchandising or
textiles for the professional world of fashion. After graduation, many
work in the apparel and textiles industry as assistant designers, retail
managers, and sales representatives.
