Los Angeles, California -- October 21, 1996 -- California
State University, Los Angeles has announced that applications
for admission are currently being accepted for the winter and
spring quarters, 1997. According to David Godoy, Assistant Vice
President for Student Affairs, applications for winter quarter
will be accepted until November 15, 1996
and applications
for spring quarter will be accepted until February 15, 1997

Located at the intersection of the 10 (San Bernardino) and 710
(Long Beach) freeways, the campus is easily accessible by automobile,
bus, and Metrolink. Classes are offered from early morning until
10 p.m. The University offers undergraduate degree programs in
more than 50 fields and graduate degrees in approximately 45 areas
of study.

A mid-sized campus, Cal State L.A. currently enrolls nearly 19,000
students. The University is fully-accredited and will observe
its 50th anniversary beginning in June, 1997. Cal State L.A.
offers small classes at all levels, ensuring close interaction
between students and faculty, and creating numerous opportunities
for students to participate in research.

The University is widely recognized for the excellence of its
faculty, among whom are nationally honored scientists, experts
in business and economics, noted scholars, authors, artists and
musicians. The University's Charter School of Education, the
first in the nation, is in the forefront of the school reform
movement; the School of Engineering and Technology, home of the
award-winning Solar Eagle solar cars, has recently been rated
among the top 20 in the nation by U.S. News and World Reports.

A pre-admission counseling service is offered through the Office
of Admissions and University Outreach. Prospective applicants
may call (323) 343-3178 to schedule an appointment or to
request an application for admission. Applications may also be
obtained at the Office of Admissions and University Outreach,
located in Student Affairs Building, room 101, off the Administration
Building patio. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 10
