Los Angeles, CA -- September 13, 1996 -- East L.A. Classic Theatre (ECT) in collaboration with the School of Arts and Letters at California State University, Los Angeles presents William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The comedy will be performed at the CSLA Arena Theatre from Friday, September 27 through Sunday, November 3, 1996. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Directed by Carlos Carrasco, this whimsical play about "mistaken identities and triumphant love" features a professional cast of actors donning period costumes and beautifully crafted masks, ECT's original music score, live singing and dancing. Carrasco, who has directed his own company on the East Coast, most recently co-starred in the movie "Speed."
The cast for this performance includes Robert Adanto, Yolanda Androzza, Richard Augustine, Melissa Flores, Ruth Livier, David Keith Miller, Juan Monsalvez and Liane Schirner. The alternate cast members are Blanca Marcillach, Joseph Palmas, Rae Ritke and Carlos San Miguel.
This performance will be ECT's fifth collaboration with CSLA. The first play the company performed at CSLA was A Touch of Poet in 1992, followed by The Price, Mirandoliina and Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. East L.A. Classic Theatre, founded in 1992 by Executive Director Tony Plana, is dedicated to providing training and performance opportunities for Latino theatre professionals.
