Cal State L.A.’s Eagle Fest

Explore Cal State L.A.

at its Annual Open House


Los Angeles, CA --- Bring your family and friends to Cal State L.A.’s Open House–“Eagle Fest”–on Saturday, APRIL 26, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The whole community is invited to a day of free events and fun activities including:

· 12 noon—Golden Eagle baseball game—Reeder Field

· 12 noon—“Magic show” by chemistry/biochemistry faculty—Salazar Hall E184

· 12:30 p.m.—University Guitar Ensemble, National Forensic (Speech) Champion recitation, Chinese poetry recitation, University Saxophone Quartet—Music Hall

· 1:10 p.m.—Selections from the CSULA production, El Grande de Coca Cola—State Playhouse

Free Speech Area:

· 10 a.m.—CSULA Brazilian Jazz Ensemble

· 11 a.m. & 12 noon—1001 Nights & DJ Saleem (Indian, Middle Eastern and Persian rhythm)

· 11:50 a.m.—Team Flight (Cal State L.A. hip hop dance troupe)

· 12:30 p.m.—Burning Star (hip hop, rock and soul mix)

· 1:30 p.m.—Ballet Folklorico Juvenil de Pico Rivera

· 2:15 p.m.—DJ Matt & DJ Resident (oldies but goodies and classic rock)

E&T Building – 10 a.m.-2 p.m. (every 20 minutes):

· See how today’s hottest products are produced in the Automated Manufacturing Lab, and view other state-of-the-art engineering, computer science and technology demonstrations throughought the building

· Patio—Super Eagle – Cal State L.A.’s futuristic, award-winning “supermileage” vehicle – and Solar Eagle III – the University’s world-famous solar car, along with concrete canoe that floats, and more

Main Walkway/University-Student Union patio:

· Giveaways, free popcorn

· Fun Zone with “Dunking Tank,” henna “tattoos,” game booths

· Displays of geological artifacts, archaeological finds and fossils

· Biology displays including a variety of greenhouse plants from the carnivorous to the “tame”

· “I.D. the artifact” anthropology game (win a prize)

· Student club tables, sno-cone fundraiser, health information booth, academic information tables


· General campus tours for prospective students and their families (10 a.m.-3 p.m.)

· Backstage theater tours of the Luckman Fine Arts Complex—every hour on the quarter hour

· Tours of the newly-expanded Anna Bing Arnold Children’s Center

· Campus housing tours—11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Open all day:

· Luckman Gallery (works by recent CSULA alumni)

· University Fine Arts Gallery (student exhibition)

Food will be available on campus at the Subway stand, Dolcini’s Caffe and Café L.A. Free admission and parking all day. The University is located at the Eastern Avenue exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Freeways. For more details, call (323) 343-CSLA (2752).
