"The Puzzling Politics of Diversity in the New Los Angeles"

The Department of Political Science at California State University, Los Angeles will co-sponsor a lecture entitled, "The Puzzling Politics of Diversity in the New Los Angeles," as part of the Byran O. Jackson Lecture Series. The guest speaker will be Dr. Raphael J. Sonenshein, Professor of Political Science at Cal State Fullerton.

Cal State L.A. University-Student Union, South Pasadena/Board Room. The University is located at the Eastern Ave. exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Fwy., at the interchange of the 10 and 710 Fwys.
Raphael Sonenshein received his bachelor's degree from Princeton and both his master's and doctorate from Yale University. Sonenshein is the author of Politics in Black and White: Race and Power in Los Angeles -- winner of the American Political Science Association's 1994 Ralph J. Bunche Award as the best book in political science on the subject of racial and ethnic pluralism. He is currently working on a book on multiracial coalition politics in the new Los Angeles.
The Byran O. Jackson Lecture Series is dedicated to the memory of the late Byran O. Jackson. Dr. Jackson, a professor in Political Science at Cal State L.A. from 1986 to 1992, was well-known in Southern California as a commentator on African-American and urban political issues. The theme for this year's lecture series is "21st Century Landscape."
