To Cal State L.A. Building and Evacuation Coordinators, Floor Monitors, office co-workers, supervisors, department heads, and student assistants:
C.E.R.T. Training to begin March 4th!
Public Safety is pleased to offer the Community Emergency Responders Training (CERT) course for 2004! We have the good fortune of working with the LA City Fire Department yet again to bring another CERT training course to campus. For those of you who:
were unable to attend the last three courses offered;
need to make up sessions;
are Building Coordinators that would like to send their team of Evacuation Coordinators, Substitutes, Floor Monitors, and/or other designees;
are interested campus personnel
this would be a great opportunity to do so. We've received such positive feedback from participants that have attended the previous courses that we're delighted to be able to offer CERT again. Approximately 180 campus personnel and students have received CERT training since the start of this program.
CERT training runs for seven weeks with 2 1/2 hour sessions each week that include:
* Introduction - Earthquake Preparedness
* Disaster Fire Suppression Techniques
* Team Organization & Management
* Disaster Medical Operations I & II
* Light Search & Rescue Operations
* Course Review & Disaster Simulation
CERT sessions will be held at the Roybal Center on the Thursday mornings from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
March 4, 11, 18, 25, and
April 1, 8, and 15.
Your commitment to attend all seven sessions is required for certification. Class size is limited to 60 participants. Simply e-mail your name and/or the name(s) of the other individuals you would like to sign up to Desiree D. Bumgarner <firstname.lastname@example.org> at the Department of Public Safety.
Thank you again for your support of the Cal State L.A. Emergency Preparedness program.
