Authors to Speak at Cal State L.A.
What & Who:
Cal State L.A. will present a lecture and booksigning by authors
senior vice president and executive director of the Freedom
Forum's Pacific Coast Center, and Clint Wilson II, professor
of journalism at Howard University. The event is co-sponsored
by the University Times, Communication Studies Department
and the University Bookstore at Cal State L.A.
Monday, October 13, at 10:30-11:30 a.m.
Cal State L.A. Fine Arts Gallery, Fine Arts Building (south
of King Hall). The University is located at the Eastern Avenue
exit, San Bernardino (I-10) Freeway, at the interchange of the
10 and 710 Freeways.
Cal State L.A. journalism alumni from the '60s, Gutierrez and
Wilson carved out careers as advocates for minorities in media
careers. Wilson and Gutierrez have written Race, Multiculturalism
and the Media: From Mass to Class Communication. Wilson, who
has recently co-authored A History of the Black Press,
helped found the Association of Black Journalists, L.A. chapter.
Gutierrez was a founding member of the California Chicano News
