Lim has extensive background on law enforcement training with a
focus in the areas of diversity and community policing.
Twice a year, she coordinates a 40-hour course on community policing
for law enforcement officers. Her other areas of interest include
community governance and nonprofit management.

Dr. Modarres' expertise is in urban geography, immigration, public
policy, and ethnic community development in the U.S., as well as Geographical
Information Systems (GIS). His most recent book, The Racial and
Ethnic Structure of Los Angeles: A Geographic Guide, published by
the Edmund G. "Pat" Brown Institute of Public Affairs at Cal State L.A.,
uses 1990 and 1980 census data to portray changes in the demography
and cultural landscape of L.A. County. (See also the Department of

Dr. Regalado is executive director of Cal State L.A.'s Edmund G. "Pat"
Brown Institute of Public Affairs, a non-partisan center for applied
public policy and community engagement focusing on a wide spectrum of
policy and community issues. He was previously professor of
political science at CSULA, with a specialty in urban politics and state and
local politics. Dr. Regalado is a widely-recognized Los Angeles
scholar, featured speaker and conference panelist frequently interviewed
by mass and independent media for his views on a variety of issues,
particularly as they affect and impact California and the Greater Los
Angeles Metropolitan Area. He is considered expert in the areas of
elections, election implications, and election campaigns; race relations
and coalition building; voting rights and political representation;
the politics of organized labor; and the political pulse of voters and
various communities. His published
works have appeared in nationally recognized journals as well as in
books and monographs widely used in university classrooms and by
community and professional organizations. Dr. Regalado is founding
editor of California Politics & Policy and California Policy Issues
Annual, annual policy journals of the Pat Brown Institute.
He is a former associate editor of Urban Affairs Review, an
internationally recognized journal, and a trustee of the Liberty Hill
Foundation.
