Blood Drives
Going to a hospital without blood is like jumping from a plane
without a parachute! Give blood...Give life!
American Red Cross
The Health Promotion and Education Center coordinates on-campus
blood drives. Blood drives are conducted by the American Red Cross
and USC Blood Donor Center.
American Red Cross Blood Drives
Appointments are available for the American Red Cross blood
drives 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on scheduled dates. The bloodmobile
will be located in parking lot '4' between the administration and
biological sciences buildings. Appointments are preferred. Walk-ins are welcome.
For your convenience there are two ways you can schedule an
appointment for the American Red Cross blood drives:

Free Anonymous HIV
Testing
The Student Health Center offers confidential HIV testing
Monday - Friday. Call (323) 343-3302 to schedule an appointment. For
more information see HIV Testing.
Free anonymous HIV testing is provided on campus by the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and
Science Mobile HIV Testing Unit (funded by the L.A. County Office of AIDS Programs
and Policy). It is available for
students, faculty, and staff. This service is offered on a walk-in,
first come-first served basis. Appointments are not available. Wait
time is approximately 15-30 minutes. Test results are available the
following Tuesday. Results
must be received in person. If desired, free
confidential HIV is also available.
The next testing takes place 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Student
Health Center's Health Promotion and Education Center, Room 215, and is scheduled for:

and anonymous HIV testing are available throughout the community. To find an anonymous
or confidential test site near you
call the CDC National AIDS Hotline at 800-342-AIDS

also find HIV/AIDS services through HIV L.A.
a partnership between AIDS Project Los Angeles and the Office of AIDS

The
Health Promotion and Education Center offers American Heart Association (AHA)
Heartsaver CPR and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers courses for
current Cal State L.A. students, faculty, and staff members. Please note: pre-registration
and pre-payment are required for all CPR

CPR, first aid, and AED training
are available throughout the community. Contact the
American Heart Association, (877) AHA-4CPR, and the
American Red Cross for more information and to locate training sites.
In addition, the American Heart Association has online training as well as personal learning
programs, CPR Anytime, available. Visit their web site for more
information. Students are encouraged to verify their training
requirements with their academic departments and/or employers.
AHA strongly
promotes knowledge & proficiency in BLS, ACLS, & PALS and has
developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these
materials in an educational course does not represent course
sponsorship by AHA. Any fees charged for this course, except for
a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not
represent income to AHA.

Series
The Cal State L.A. Health and Wellness Series is sponsored by the
Student Health Center, Center for Student Involvement, University-Student Union, and student fees.
Participants needing special accommodations should contact the
Center for Student Involvement at least one week

has a low-cost Acupuncture Clinic available for students,
faculty and staff? Are you aware that Acupuncture can be done
without inserting needles and can treat conditions such as back
or knee pain, stress and anxiety, weight management, insomnia or
addiction to alcohol or cigarettes? Come meet Daniel Wolf, our
Board Certified, California Licensed Acupuncturist who will
answer your questions regarding one of the oldest and most
commonly used medical practices in the
