California State University, Los Angeles has established a Lifelong Learning Program. Professor Connie Corley, of the Applied Gerontology Institute and Professor in the School of Social Work, is program director, with Marilyn Kronmal, Ed. D., Executive Director. The program is guided by a Board comprised of a representative of the Emeriti Association and participating students, community leaders and instructors. Since the Lifelong Learning Program began, several Cal State L.A. Emeriti have been actively involved in the teaching of non-credit courses in literature, history, political science, the history of science. art, music and more. Emeriti of all disciplines are encouraged to become members of the program ($25.00 yearly membership), propose courses of their own, and volunteer their services in a program in which adults become empowered through learning to remain vibrant in mind, body and spirit. Courses are held weekly in three or six week modules. They are conducted on the CSULA campus and at satellite locations such as senior centers and senior residences throughout Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
