Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement
The Commencement 2013 Ceremonies of California State University, Los Angeles will be held at the University Athletic Stadium on the following dates and times.
Friday, June 14, 2013 at 5:00 P.M.
For the Charter College of Education,
College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology, and the
College of Health and Human Services.
Commencement Speaker: Terrence James Roberts, one of the Little Rock Nine, a group of African-American
students who, in 1957, were the first black students ever to attend classes at Little Rock Central High School
in Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1999, he and the other people of the Little Rock Nine were awarded the Congressional
Gold Medal by President Bill Clinton.

Commencement Speaker: Honorable Judy Chu is the first Chinese American woman elected to U.S. Congress. She begun serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for California's 32nd District in July 2009. As of January 2013, she represents California's 27th congressional district. Chu started her career as an educator, and taught psychology at Los Angeles City College and East Los Angeles College for 20 years. She was first elected to the Garvey School District Board of Education in 1985. She was then elected to the Monterey Park City Council, where she served as mayor three times. From there, she was elected to the California State Assembly, and then to the State Board of Equalization.
