On Campus Interview (OCI) Program Orientation
 
The On-Campus Interview (OCI) Program is designed to connect Cal State LA students and alumni with employers from a variety of fields who come to campus to conduct interviews.
 
OCI interviews are held throughout the year. The employers vary, and typically hire for full-time, wage based, entry-level to mid-level positions. Selection for an interview is based on the requirements of each employer, and may also be limited by space availability.

Eligibility:
The OCI Program is exclusively for fully matriculated and currently enrolled Cal State LA students and Cal State LA alumni.

Q: How can I find out which employers are participating in the OCI Program this academic term?
A: The list of OCI participating employers is updated as employers enroll in the program. Because this list is constantly changing, please refer to your Cal State LA Handshake account for an updated list of OCI schedules.
 
Q: Do I need to attend a workshop to sign up for an OCI?
A: No. Though it is recommended that you meet with a career center professional for interview preparation and utilize Career Express tools such as ‘Perfect Interview’ and ‘Interview Stream’ to help prepare. 
  
Q: Does my participation in the OCI Program guarantee an interview or job offer?
A: Participation does not guarantee an interview or job offer. It is important to note that a carefully prepared résumé and proper preparation for the interview can improve your success. It is recommended that you utilize Career Express tools such as 'Career Spots' to learn more about best practices for creating a professional résumé and preparing for an entry to mid-level job interview. In addition, our career center professionals regularly conduct workshops to aid in your preparation. You can find out about upcoming workshops and events on the Cal State LA Handshake.
 
Q: With the pre-select interview method, once I submit my résumé when can I sign-up? 
A: With the pre-select interview method there are specific dates when résumés may be submitted for a position. If selected by the employer for an interview, you will be notified and allowed to sign-up for a time slot online via Cal State LA Handshake.
 
Q: I qualified for a position that’s “open interview method” but can’t choose a time slot. Why can’t I sign-up?
A: The open interview method (if you qualify) has a limited number of interview slots which are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot sign-up, this may be because all interview slots have been taken.
 
Q: Why can’t I see a particular employer on the OCI schedule on Cal State LA Handshake?
A: Some employers require candidates to meet specific criteria, such as graduation date, GPA, etc. If information on your Cal State LA Handshake profile does not match the criteria, you may have difficulties viewing those employers and positions. Check that your profile on Cal State LA Handshake is up-to-date and accurate, and if you continue to have trouble please contact Zeidy Cabrera, Employer Relations Coordinator.
 
Q: How can I find out why I was not selected for an interview?
A: The visiting employer decides who is selected for an interview.  Please contact the company representative listed on the job posting or interview schedule.  For assistance with developing your request to the employer or creating a competitive job search package, career advisors are available for walk-in group advising Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Career Development Center.
 
Q: How can I find out about my performance in the interview?
A: The visiting employer does not provide OCI program staff with feedback on interviewee performance.  For feedback, please contact the company representative listed on the job posting or interview schedule.  For assistance with developing your request to the employer or interview skills, career advisors are available for walk-in group advising Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Career Development Center.
