9. Exemption of UDT Policy for Theme Learning Community (FSQ students) Summer 1999
Three Upper Division Themes will be offered as learning communities during Summer 1999: Gender in the Diversity of Human Experience, Perspective on Violence, and Race, Diversity, and Justice. Any student who enrolls in all three courses of any of these three learning community themes during Summer quarter 1999 will be exempt from the policy that prohibits students from taking an Upper Division Theme course in their major field.
10. Major Modification in
Second Baccalaureate Degree Policy
Major moidifications have been approved
in the Second Baccalaureate Degree Policy. Cal State L.A. graduates who remain in
continuous attendance will not be required to complete additional GE requirements for the
second baccalaureate. Returning Cal State L.A. graduates will be required to
complete 12 units of Upper Division GE units, if this requirement was not satisfied with
the first degree. The diversity requirement can be counted as part of the 12 GE
units.
Graduates from other accredited
institutions will be required to have satisfied a total of 16 units (12 lower division
units and 4 upper division units) in each of the three areas of natural sciences and math,
humanities, and the social sciences by completing upper division theme requirements.
Course by course articulation or comparability will not be required, nor will completion
of sub blocks. These students must satisfy the statutory and the diversity
requirements.
