Changes in Math Course Sequence for Blended Multiple Subject Teacher Preparation Option Majors
The Math sequence for the Blended Multiple Teacher Preparation Program was approved by EPC in June 2001, and was effective starting Fall quarter 2001. Math 115 was approved by GES and EPC Spring quarter as a double counted course for the blended programs to satisfy the A4 requirement. (Note: Math 110 is prerequisite to Math 115) Like other approved double counted courses, Math 115 will be automatically accepted for A4 when students change their majors.
Students in blended programs who have not taken any math requirements (usually freshmen) should complete Math 110, 115 and 225 in that order. Other students who are in blended programs and have begun the Math sequence complete the following sequence: Math 100, 120 and 225 in that order.
The program modifications for the blended program allowed for two alternative paths: Math 110, 115 and 225 or Math 100, 120 and 225. The two alternative paths were approved to allow community colleges sufficient time to develop the new courses to articulate the new sequence, which was the ultimate goal.
Note: There has been no change in the old traditional multiple subject programs. These students complete Math 100 and 120. Since Fall 2003, new students must take Math 110, 115 and 225.
