The Expired Incomplete "IN" (I) grade.
Definition: An interim grade for students passing the course but through extenuating circumstances are not able to complete all or part of the work of the last four weeks of the course. It is not an appropriate grade for failing students and students who are registered in the course but have not been in attendance. It requires completion of a written contract from the department in which the IN (I Fall 2002 or later*) is received. The contract is filed in the department office.
NOTE: Unless the IN is expired, the student does not re-enroll in the course in order to complete the requirements to obtain the letter grade.
