Academic Probation
You
are placed on academic probation at the end of a quarter if either your
grade point average at Cal State L.A. or your cumulative grade point
average in course work attempted from all of the colleges
you attended falls below C (2.0).
You continue to be on academic probation until your Cal State L.A. and
cumulative grade point average is 2.0 or higher or until you are
disqualified in accordance with the regulations for academic
disqualification.
Students’ probation status is indicated on GET in the term grade report.
Students who are on probation need to see their academic advisor immediately! The University’s advisors are committed to helping students so their academic problems in one quarter do not carry over to subsequent quarters. Continued academic problems could result in the student being academically disqualified from the University.
Grade
Point Average (GPA)
When looking at your quarterly grade reports, you'll find
three categories of GPA (Term, Higher Education, and CSULA). The
Term GPA is that quarter's GPA; the Higher Education GPA
includes all of your undergraduate course work (from CSULA and other
colleges); the CSULA GPA is your cumulative GPA during your
enrollment at Cal State LA. You must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
in all categories to graduate. Also, a 2.0 is required in your major
courses for graduation. You can calculate any one of your GPAs by dividing the
quality points by the attempted units, or you can use our
GPA calculator
To find your GPA in your GET account. Go to VIEW MY GRADE and select the term.

This is a friendly reminder:
Academic probation is different than financial aid probation. Students on financial aid probation should see a financial aid counselor in the Financial Aid office located in Student Affairs, room 124.
