Transcripts

Applicants must arrange to have official transcripts sent directly to the Admissions Office from your secondary school (for freshman and applicants who have completed fewer than 84 transferable quarter units) and/or from each college attended (for undergraduate/graduate admission). Transcripts from overseas applicants must be received 60 days prior to the first day of the term to which you apply to insure timely notification.

Original foreign transcripts submitted by an applicant for admission are not considered official transcripts. These records may be used for evaluation purposes, but you also must request that official transcripts from each school, college and university you have attended be sent directly to the Admissions Office. Certified English translations must be submitted for transcripts received in the original language.

Finances

International (visa) students are subject to nonresident tuition and are required to certify that sufficient funds will be available to them during their stay in the United States for schooling. The approximate cost for one academic year of education is currently $27,000. Certification of must show $27,000 (US dollars) in liquid assets. If a married student plans to have dependents live in the U.S. while attending the university, the amounts of $4,000 for a spouse and $2,000 for each child should be added to the academic year cost.

Cal State L.A. is unable to offer financial assistance to international students. Assistantships, scholarships, and fellowships usually are not available to California nonresidents. Information about possible sources of financial aid may be obtained from the nearest office of the Institute of International Education or an American consulate
