The amount students pay to attend CSULA depends on how many units they enroll in, whether they are graduate or undergraduate students, and whether or not they are California Residents for fee payment purposes. Prospective students who need detailed assistance before submitting an application for admission may schedule an appointment with a preadmission counselor in Admissions and University Outreach, (323) 343-3178.
Applicants are encouraged to apply during the first month of the filing
period. All applications received during this initial filing period will
be considered. However, applications received after the first month of
the filing period are handled on a first-come, first-served basis until
enrollment goals are met. Applications received after enrollment goals
have been met for the quarter indicated will automatically be moved to
the next available quarter. Applicants must request that official copies
of all required transcripts be mailed directly to the Cal State L.A. Office
of University Admissions from the institution(s) attended.
All incoming undergraduate students are required to enroll in an English and math course during their first quarter at Cal State L.A. unless they have already met the general education requirement for English and/or math. For appropriate course placement, unless exempt, new undergraduate students are required to take the English Placement Test (EPT) and/or Entry Level Mathematics test (ELM) after admission and prior to enrollment in classes.
