Applied Injury Biomechanics Laboratory
The mission of the CSULA Applied Injury Biomechanics Laboratory is to advance the state-of-knowledge on the mechanical response of the human body to impulsive loading and to use this knowledge to develop novel technology for injury prevention and forensic investigation.
To fulfill this mission, we:
- Conduct multi-disciplinary experimental, computational and analytical research
- Partner with research leaders in industry, academia and government
- Engage students in all aspects of our work
Current Projects
- Development of a portable, universal impact test device
- Evaluation of bone surrogates for use in forensic investigation of knife stab wounds
- Validation of a finite element human body model (HBM) for oblique side impacts
- Aircraft Seat Structure Design Optimization for Crashworthiness
