SEED Grant Program

In order to integrate a greater number of CSULA faculty into the PREM, and foster increased collaboration among materials-oriented faculty, PREM will offer small SEED grants ($13,000 each) during years 2-5 (one each year). Faculty from Chemistry and Biochemistry, Engineering and Physics will be eligible to apply for funding each spring. A SEED grant will provide modest support to a faculty member (materials and/or partial salary) and one student (supplies and student travel) to conduct research. The awards will be decided by the Executive Committee. Each year current SEED grantees will be allowed to apply for continued funding. A successful proposal will be expected to develop into a research theme for future PREM proposals. The SEED thus fosters the extension of the CSULA and PSU collaboration in the long-term.
