Cal State L.A. invites you to strengthen your ties to the University through membership in a support group or affiliated organization in which you can choose your level of participation. Become part of a caring network that connects you with individuals of similar interests, while helping Cal State L.A. students.
Involvement Opportunities:
President’s Associates - The President’s Associates is a membership society of University friends, alumni, civic and corporate leaders who share the vision of Cal State L.A. and recognize that investing in public higher education is vital to the success of our community and nation. Through membership contributions and support, President’s Associates provide a major source of unrestricted support to the University. This is increasingly important as state funding is less available. Our supporters enhance students’ educational experiences, provide supplementary support for the President’s Scholars program, and facilitate the strengthening of University curriculum. The Golden Eagle Alliance (GEA) provides support for Cal State L.A.’s nationally recognized intercollegiate athletics program. The GEA has enabled the University to offer scholarships that provide opportunities for student-athletes to earn their degree and participate in a quality intercollegiate athletics program. Our student athletes have a strong academic record, and your support helps that good record continue. Member benefits may include season tickets to athletic events, copies of media guides, and special opportunities with teams and coaches.

Friends of Music (FOM) enhances educational opportunities for Department of Music students at CSULA. Specific objectives of the FOM include:
- Developing music scholarships
- Enhancing performance opportunities
- Encouraging and recruiting talented musicians
- Expanding public awareness and understanding of the performing arts at Cal State L.A.
Friends of Music was founded in 1976 by Ellen King Kravitz, Ph.D., emeritus professor of music, along with help from other dedicated music enthusiasts. Today, the Friends of Music organization includes hundreds of members and a governing board. Since 1981, Friends of Music has sponsored the Department of Music's biennial "Faculty-Staff Vocal Extravaganza." This gala production features faculty, staff and administrators performing short vignettes from Broadway shows, operas and operettas. Friends of the Charter College of Education – Founded in 1978 as one of the first University support groups, this group sponsors activities that enhance education in general and the art of teaching in particular. Among events each year are the Distinguished Educator Awards Dinner and the Annual Steak Bake.
Members includes alumni, faculty, administrators, community members and others dedicated to supporting the needs of students and teacher training programs. Through membership, individuals who care about quality education can have a stake in the future of tomorrow's educators. Friends of the CSULA Library – Members’ love of life-long learning enriches Cal State L.A.’s library programs and resources. The group includes campus and surrounding community members who promote public awareness and appreciation for the extensive learning resources of the John F. Kennedy Memorial Library. In addition, they fund raise toward its continuing development and sustaining its level of excellence.
The organization sponsors cultural events (lectures, book signings, sales and exhibitions), builds community relationships, and seeks charitable contributions to ensure the Library’s continued excellence.
Friends of the Library gives supporters the opportunity to invest in the education of our students, in the Library as a community resource, and in the cultural enrichment of the Los Angeles community. - The CSULA Alumni Association strengthens connections between students, alumni and friends and enhances the value of their affiliation with the University.
- The Emeriti Association of CSULA includes emeriti faculty members dedicated to securing, enhancing and maintaining the status rights and privileges of The Emeriti Association, as well as encouraging members to continue on scholarly endeavors that contribute to the educational community and mission of the University. The Association funds and awards graduate fellowships, participates in University events, and distributes the Emeritimes newsletter to all emeriti faculty.
