Want to save time and money? Want to avoid the hassle of finding parking on campus? Ample parking is available at our nearby park-and-ride lot at Date Avenue between Orange Street and Mission Road. Please see the map below. Free shuttles to campus operate throughout the day.

Cal State LA's Off-Site Lot

  • Use the 801 Date Avenue entrance only.
  • Gate will issue you a ticket, which must be Validate ticket with attendant.
  • The cost for an off-site parking permit is just $100 per semester.  Compare to the on-campus student semester permit, $200.
  • No additional charge for students displaying an on-campus parking permit.
  • $3 for daily permit with Cal State LA ID, when purchased at the Off-Site Lot.  Pay upon exiting, cash only, please bring exact change.
  • Lot opens at 7 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Parking attendants will be available at the lot to assist.
  • Plan on allowing extra time.

Nearby Public Transportation 

In addition, the Alhambra Community Transit (ACT) shuttle bus stops near the parking lot on Fremont Avenue and continues to Cal State LA. The cost is 25 cents, and shuttles operate from the parking lot to Cal State LA between 7 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and from the University to the parking lot from 2:55 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. For more information, see the ACT website.

Public Transportation Incentives

For students and employees thinking about using public transportation, Cal State LA and the Metro and Foothill transit agencies provide the following incentives:

  • The University has a Metrolink station directly on campus and Metrolink offers a 25% discount or students. For more information, visit the Metrolink website.
  • Cal State LA’s Transit Center and Busway Station that serve both the Metro and Foothill Transit systems, which have lines across the L.A. region. Both agencies offer discounts of more than 50 percent on monthly passes for college students. Visit the Metro and Foothill Transit websites for information.
  • Cal State LA has also worked with Metro to offer its students a U-Pass.  The Metro U-Pass is a reduced-fare transit pass, offering students unlimited rides for the semester on any Metro system in LA County that accepts TAP, including all local Metro buses, Metro Rapid, Metro Liner, and Metro rail services, including Zone 1.
  • Employees can receive monthly bus and train subsidies to help reduce the cost of transit passes.  Employees that qualify can have the cost of their passes deducted before taxes from their paycheck.  For more information visit our Transportation Services Page.
  • Employees can reserve vehicles at no cost to leave campus for lunch or to attend off-campus appointments.  Contact Transportation Services at (323) 343-5277
  • Other incentives are available to employees who carpool or do not bring a car on campus and are dropped off by a non-employee. For more information visit our Transportation Services Page.
  • Bicycle riders can register their bicycle at no charge with Cal State LA Public Safety rent a bicycle locker ($10/semester for students; $20/semester for others).
  • Taxi vouchers are provided to employees when an emergency arises and they cannot return home on public transportation.
