Want to save time and money? Want to avoid the hassle of finding parking on campus? Ample parking is available at our nearby park-and-ride lot at Date Avenue between Orange Street and Mission Road. Please see the map below. Free shuttles to campus operate throughout the day.

General Information

  • Enter at 801 Date Avenue only, and validate ticket with attendant. Plan on allowing extra time.
  • The cost for an off-site parking permit is just $100 per semester (on-campus parking permit is $200 per semester).
  • No charge for students displaying an on-campus parking permit.
  • $3 for daily permit when purchased at the lot.
  • Permits are cash only when purchased at the lot. Please bring exact change.
  • Get real-time shuttle info via the Ride Systems app, on GETmobile, or at
  • Lot opens at 7 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Parking attendants will be available at the lot to assist.

Cal State LA shuttle

  • First shuttle leaves off-site lot at 7 a.m. (near Date Avenue in Alhambra)
  • Last shuttle departs Cal State LA at 9:30 p.m. from the University-Student Union

Nearby Public Transportation 

In addition, the Alhambra Community Transit (ACT) shuttle bus stops near the parking lot on Fremont Avenue and continues to Cal State LA. The cost is 25 cents, and shuttles operate from the parking lot to Cal State LA between 7 a.m. to 8:20 a.m. and from the University to the parking lot from 2:55 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. For more information, see the ACT website.

Public Transportation Incentives

For students and employees thinking about using public transportation, Cal State LA and the Metro and Foothill transit agencies provide the following incentives:

  • The University has a Metrolink station, and the agency offers students a 25 percent discount on tickets. For more information, visit the Metrolink website.
  • The University has a Transit Center and Busway Station that serve both the Metro and Foothill Transit systems, which have lines across the L.A. region. Both agencies offer discounts of more than 50 percent on monthly passes for college students. Visit the Metro and Foothill Transit websites for information.
  • Employees receive monthly bus and train subsidies to help reduce the cost of transit passes.
  • Employees can load their Metro TAP cards with monthly bus passes at the Parking and Transportation Center and receive a 25 percent discount. You can even have the cost of the monthly pass deducted before taxes from your paycheck.
  • An additional 25 percent discount toward transit passes can be won from monthly drawings.
  • Employees can reserve vehicles at no cost to leave campus for lunch or to attend off-campus appointments.
  • Quarterly gift cards are issued to employees who do not bring a car on campus and are dropped off by a non-employee.
  • Taxi vouchers are provided to employees when an emergency arises and they cannot return home on public transportation.
  • Bicycle riders can rent a bicycle locker ($10/semester for students; $20/semester for others).
