About Dr. Debbie Covino

Dr. Debbie Covino is a Master Clinical Hypnotherapist, certified through the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners. With degrees in both psychology and literature, Dr. Covino is uniquely qualified to help people discover the connection between early life experiences and conditioned patterns of thought and behavior.  Dr. Covino has been on L.A. Talk Radio, and has spoken to diverse groups about the importance of self-care and inner well-being.

Workshop Description

This 2-day Saturday course will include a lecture and discussion with presentations and easy-to-learn exercises that will help to release negativity, improve focus, and build motivation and confidence to develop your personal strengths

Join this workshop to learn:
  • How mindfulness releases stress from the body
  • How guided imaging can reduce pain
  • How Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) can change negative thoughts and moods into positive ones
  • What “pattern interrupt” techniques can accomplish
  • How to transform internal dialogue to overcome limiting beliefs

Course Format and Cost:   

Two Saturday sessions, May 2 and May 9, 2015
10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
$90, Cost includes both sessions, lecture, discussion, exercises, and presentations. 

Course Program/Sessions

Session 1:

A. How Does Hypnosis Work? 

1.  Lecture and Discussion:  The subconscious mind and the physiological and psychological components of hypnosis; examination of case studies.
2.  Exercises:  Understanding the influence of the subconscious mind on our thinking and behaviors.

B. What is Self-Hypnosis, and How Does it Work?

1. Lecture and Discussion:  Emphasis on self-hypnosis as a component of wellness and well-being.
2. Areas that can be treated through self-hypnosis include:
  • Anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Stress
  • Insomnia
  • Weight loss
  • Addiction
  • Career Challenges
  • Relationship Challenges
  • Athletic Skills
  • Life Goals

3.  Exercises:  Group practice with self-hypnosis scripts; Individual goal-setting for personal improvement.


Session 2:

A.  Class Presentations:  Students report on what they have experienced practicing self-hypnosis over the week.
B.  Exercises:  Alternative self-hypnosis scripts for particular conditions, including some of those listed for Session 1.
C.  Lecture/Discussion:  What are the differences between hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis?  When might personal hypnotherapy sessions be helpful?
