On November 19, 2014 the College of Professional and Global Education (PaGE) at California State University, Los Angeles hosted its 1st Annual International Cultural Night and Dinner. The event was filled with a wonderful night of cultural performances and celebration. The evening started with Cal State L.A.’s very own mariachi band "Aguila de Oro" welcoming 200 guests as they walked the red carpet to the sounds and songs of old Mexico. Many guests arrived in traditional cultural attire that spanned the many cultural exchange citizens that Cal State L.A currently serves, such as India, Mexico, China, Japan, and Scotland.
Dean Eric Bullard gave the opening address reinforcing the university’s focus on cultural and global exchange as a necessary and essential value for its students, faculty and our economies. Becky Bishop, Student Services Coordinator for PaGE's English Language Program served as emcee for the event. After a seated 3-course dinner International Office Director, Amy Wang and Study Abroad Advisor, Jennifer Amaya recognized and congratulated Cal State L.A.'s outbound study abroad students on their new adventure, as well as recognized current international exchange students from around the world studying at the university for the academic quarter.
The evening closed with group performances by Cal State L.A. students: Mike Wingless, EVOLVE Dance Group and Bollywood Contemporary, and ended with closing-night well wishes from the Associate Dean of PaGE, Dr. Justin Cassity. Music was provided by Golden Eagle Radio.
