Cal State LA proudly welcomes its incoming freshman class! Now that you have completed your high school journey, we want to be sure that you have the information and resources to get your college experience off to a great start.

Incoming freshmen students who have been conditionally admitted to the university and have paid their Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) will receive an email invitation beginning May 3, 2016, with instructions on how to sign-up for an orientation date. The ECD deadline is May 2, 2016; students submitting deposits after this deadline will not be eligible to attend Orientation. Course Registration

New freshmen will register for classes on their Orientation date. Students must pay all tuition fees prior to registering for classes. Additionally, all active registration holds must be resolved prior to your Orientation date. Some possible causes for registration holds may include:

  • Incomplete Financial Aid documents
  • Incomplete Admissions verifications/documents
  • Incomplete/missing test score information

You can use your Student Portal to pay your tuition and check for holds. To access your portal, you will need to have activated your myCalStateLA Identity Account. Use the Tuition and Fee Payment Calculator tool on GET to help calculate your total tuition cost.

Testing Requirement

Unless exempt, the Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam and the English Placement Test (EPT) are required in order for you to register for the fall semester. For more information, or to register for a placement test, please visit the University Testing Center.

Early Start Program

If you are required to participate in the Early Start Program and registered for Early Start Math classes, please do not sign up for an orientation date that will conflict with your Early Start course's final exam date. The final exam is scheduled to take place on the last day of each Early Start class. For more information regarding the Cal State LA Early Start, click here.

Final Transcripts

The official transcript deadline is July 1, 2016. All final, official transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by or before this date. Late transcripts will NOT be accepted. Eligibility for enrollment will be determined using coursework completed and listed in these transcripts. Failure to meet the admission requirements and all related enrollment deadlines will make you ineligible to enroll for Fall 2016. For more information about submitting documents, please click here.
