Do I have to attend Orientation?

Yes. Golden Eagle Orientation is mandatory for first-time freshmen. Academic advisement is mandatory for all incoming transfer students.

How/when do I sign up for Orientation?

Conditionally admitted students who have paid the Enrollment Confirmation Deposit (ECD) will receive an email beginning May 3rd with instructions on how to sign up for Golden Eagle Orientation and Golden Eagle Parent Orientation.

When is the deadline to sign up for Orientation?

All reservations and payments must be received no later than June 17, 2016. Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.

How much does it cost to attend Orientation?

Golden Eagle Orientation is $70.00 (non-refundable) for freshmen. Golden Eagle Parent Orientation is $30.00 per person (non-refundable). Mandatory Academic Advisement (available to new transfer students only for fall semester) is no cost.

Will Financial Aid cover my Orientation fee or ID card?

No. Financial Aid does not cover the Orientation fee nor the Golden Eagle One Card, and Fee Deferments/Waivers will not be accepted in any circumstance.

Will a meal be provided?

Lunch will be served at approx. 12 pm for Golden Eagle Orientation participants. It is strongly recommended that you eat breakfast before you arrive, or pack a snack if you will need to eat before 12 noon. Lunch is not provided for the Transfer Advisement and Registration sessions.

Are overnight accommodations available?

Overnight accommodations are available on-campus through for students attending Orientation and one parent/guardian only. Minors not attending Orientation are not permitted to stay in University Housing. Due to the shortened summer, accommodations will only be available until July 29th; after this date, students will have to seek off-campus accommodations. For on-campus rate information, click here. May I bring a guest (other than a parent or guardian)?

No. Golden Eagle Orientation is designed for students only and space is limited. However, if you are a student and have special needs and require accompanied assistance, please call New Student and Parent Programs at (323) 343-3195 well in advance of your orientation date.

First-time freshmen are able to attend Golden Eagle Orientation with one parent/guardian on the All College dates only.

How will I know what classes are available?

Access GET via your Student Portal, and search for classes under your desired academic term (for example, fall semester 2016). Additionally, you can learn about specific courses you should be taking during your group advisement session with your college's academic and/or department advisors.

How long is Orientation?

  • One-day program
  • Check-in will begin at 8:00 am
  • The program will begin promptly at 8:30 am (late arrivals will not be admitted), and should end at approximately 5 pm
  • On-Campus Transfer Advisement and Registration sessions are open to students for up to four (4) hours
