The Model
Arab League (MAL) is much like the Model United Nations (MUN) in that students
act as delegates of their respective nations and engage in dialogue concerning
social, economic, political, cultural and various other affairs.
MAL is unique because it strictly deals with Middle Eastern and other Arabic
speaking states.
While
"student diplomats" attempt to solve problems facing leaders of the Arab
world, they gain valuable leadership training and hone their skills in
public speaking, writing, debating and critical thinking. The MAL
Club is open to students from all majors. We welcome you to join
us and participate in all future simulations.
This year's Model Arab League team will participate in the national simulation in Washington, D.C. April 1-4,2001, and at CADMUN in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2001. Plans are tentative for a return to Cairo to participate in the international simulation at the American University in Cairo in November, 2001.
Cal State LA participated in the 1999 Cairo International Model Arab League simulation. Students traveled to Egypt on November 12 through the 28th to represent the Sultanate of Oman. Student delegates were:
