Department of Music at California State University, Los Angeles. Specific objectives include:

~ Raising funds for music scholarships.

~ Providing performance opportunities.

~ Encouraging and recruiting talented musicians.

~ Enhancing public awareness and understanding of the performing arts at
   Cal State LA.

Our History

Friends of Music was founded in 1976 by Professor of Music Dr. Ellen King Kravitz. With help from other dedicated music enthusiasts an organization was created to assist talented musicians currently enrolled in the music program at Cal State LA. Initially, Dr. Kravitz and her husband, Hilard L. Kravitz, M.D., hosted several social events designed to build a base of support. Today, the Friends of Music organization has grown to include hundreds of members and a governing board of directors.
