First time freshmen who have been admitted to the University and who select Biology as their major on CSU Mentor will be matriculated as Biology majors if they meet all of the following requirements:
- GPA≥ 3.0
- SAT ≥ 900 combined Math and Critical Reading score or ACT composite score of > 20
- Campus Impaction Admission Criteria
Lower Division continuing students who wish to be accepted as Biology majors must meet all of the following criteria:
- GPA ≥ 2.25
- Completion of Introductory Biology I (BIO 100A), General Chemistry I (CHEM 101), and Precalculus: Algebra (MATH 104A) or equivalent with a grade of “C” or better in each course.
Upper Division Continuing Students or Transfer Students
- GPA ≥ 2.75*
- Completion of General Chemistry I (CHEM 101), II (CHEM 102), and III (CHEM 103), and Precalculus: Algebra (MATH 104A) or equivalent with a grade of “C” or better in each course.
The number of applicants who can be admitted to the major is limited by space availability.
First time freshmen: Admission of first time freshmen for available spaces in Psychology will be based on a rank ordering of CSU eligible applicants on the basis of their CSU eligibility index provided that they meet the campus impaction admission criteria.
Transfer students: Admission of transfer students for available spaces will be based on a rank ordering of cumulative grade point average, with a minimum transferrable GPA of 3.00.*
Continuing students: Continuing students wishing to major in Psychology must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in at least 36 quarter units of completed coursework at CSULA.
