Panetta Institute’s Congressional Internship Program Info Session

Description

The Panetta Institute hosts students for its Congressional Internship Program beginning in mid-August with an intensive two-week course at the Institute in Monterey, CA and continuing through mid-November in Washington, D.C. Each of the twenty-three CSU campuses nominates one student to participate in this program. Open to US citizens who are California residents with a recommended minimum GPA of 3.0+. Must be 18 or older to apply.

During an intensive summer training session, these students attend lectures led by an array of experts from diverse disciplines. Interns are then assigned to work for two and one-half months in the Capitol Hill office of a member of the California congressional delegation. The Institute covers program costs including CSUMB course registration fees, campus services during orientation, air travel and housing in Washington, D.C. Interns also receive up to twenty semester credits.

Cal State LA sophomores and juniors of all majors are encouraged to attend. Register by January 30.

The Introductory Personal Statement Workshop is open to all Cal State LA students looking to craft competitive scholarship and fellowship essays. Interested students must bring a draft of a personal statement or a past essay to workshop. Space is limited. Register by January 31.

Mock Interview Workshop for Prestigious Awards

Description

Off-campus scholarships and fellowships sometimes require an interview during the application process. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn interview "dos and don'ts" and practice responding to common questions.Cal State LA undergraduate and graduate students of all majors are welcome to attend. Fulbright Programs Info Session

Description

The Fulbright US Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students.

Cal State LA students of all majors are invited to learn more about these competitive awards, including an overview of the English Teaching Assistant grants and Study/Research grants, eligibility requirements, and application timeline.

Joining the session is Dr. Ericka Verba, Cal State LA Director of Latin American Studies, who received a Fulbright Research Award to Chile in 1991 and has served on a Fulbright national review panel.

Cal State LA students are invited to attend an information session on the Gates Cambridge, Marshall, Mitchell, and Rhodes Scholarships. These prestigious awards fully fund graduate-level study in the UK.

This info session will familiarize you with the awards, application process, and best practices for constructing a competitive application. Students of all majors are encouraged to attend. Recommended minimum GPA of 3.5+.  Register here to attend.
