Interlibrary Loan of Materials
Level C
The Interlibrary Loan Student Assistant needs to be a reliable and responsible
individual who is willing and able to work with a lot of detail. The individual
must be able to work well with others and to train other student assistants,
and have the ability to perform assigned duties without close supervision.
Library work experience is desirable but not essential.
Under general supervision of the Chief Access Services Assistant the
typical duties are:
Receives and answers interlibrary loan requests via the OCLC system,
Is responsible for phone or written communications initiated from requests
via OCLC, fax, or ARIEL,
Assigns student work in lending procedures,
Assists in maintaining files and records associated with the lending
operations,
Shares in the training and supervision of Class B student assistant,
Assists in the compilation of interlibrary loan statistics for Access
Services Department, and
Consults with Chief Access Services Assistant on overall organization
of procedures including lending and borrowing.
Performs related duties as required within the job level of responsibilities.
