The responsibilities for this position would be performed by students assistns at either the Reference Desk or Periodicals Desk.
College Work Study
Patron Reference/Periodicals Service Desk
Students may be required to work alone during the early morning and late evening hours, both weekdays and weekends. During peek periods students may be working along side faculty and staff members of the Library.
Duties may include: answering the phone and informing the patrons of Library services and collections, may require making referrals to other Library and Campus organizations. May be asked to help patrons locate library materials; assist patrons at work stations with software and search questions including the OPAC and other computerized databases and various types of catalogs. May provide information concerning the reference and periodicals shelf lists, location guides and the use of the CSU Serials List. May be required to assist patrons with the operation of computers and/or the operation of microform reader/printers.
At times may be required to assist in the daily processing of new materials received.
May assist in the technical processing of new journals on a daily basis and prepare bindery shipments for both the theses and journals.
Is responsible for keeping the service area properly maintained and in good working order, including performing routine shelving.
Performs related duties as required within the job level of responsibilities.
