Student Assistant workers in this position are required to work without direct staff supervision during almost all work hours, including evenings and weekends.
Counter/Exit Service Area
Main responsibilities for this position include organizing and assigning of Counter/Exit Student Assistant workloads, and assisting in the evaluation process for Student Assistants in the work area. The workers in this position are expected to direct the following operations during their hours of duty: charging and discharging of materials using the OPAC CRT terminals; determining the eligibility of patrons for Library privileges; processing holds and searches placed by patrons; assisting in processing Library Card applications; and answering directional and informational questions, both in-person and over the telephone.
The Class C employee acts as the resource person for all the above operations, and in any other situations that may arise, and performs all related duties as appropriate within the position's responsibilities. These workers are expected to contact the appropriate persons or offices in case of emergencies.
