Academic Web Links - Useful for Library Research

  • CSLA - Department of Psychology. This site is maintained by Dr. Michael Roffe, Professor of Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles. It contains numerous links to useful Internet sites related to the study of psychology.


  • American Psychological Association. Professional and scholarly organization, very active in psychology education nationally. Over fifty interest groups. Site includes links to many resources of value to psychologists. Student memberships available.

  • American Psychological Association Journals. Here are located the tables of contents of the most recent yea,r and the abstracts of the current issues, of all APA journals. They can be searched or browsed by journal name. You cannot search by topic. Online full-text of APA articles is NOT available at this site, or elsewhere on the Internet or via subscription databases. All of these journals are indexed in PsycINFO. Many of these titles are available in our Library in print. Check our Library Catalog Periodicals Finding List section for availability.

  • Buros Institute of Mental Measurements. Publishers of Tests in Print and Mental Measurements Yearbook, the Institute offers an online search service and subject listing of tests, with descriptions, reviews and ordering information. Free access from any Internet account. 

  • California Association of School Psychologists (CASP) Founded in 1953 CASP is a statewide membership association for school psychologists in California. CASP represents the profession for legislative audiences, government officials, and other policy-making bodies. CASP provides continuing professional development, publishes a quarterly magazine, and an annual research journal.

  • Cognitive and Psychological Sciences on the Internet.

  • Links to Psychology Journals. Journal locator in Psychology and the Social Sciences. Links to journal homepages for online psychology and social science journals. Can restrict the list by several criteria, for example, journals that only provide full-text, or to journals that cover a specific field of psychiatry. Also includes PsychArticle Search which searches several free Tables of Contents and Abstracts Databases for Psychology and Social Science Articles. This site is authored by Armin Günther, Augsburg, in cooperation with Martien Brand, Amsterdam.

  • Narrative Psychology. Resource "focuses upon narrative perspectives in psychology and allied disciplines and provides an interdisciplinary guide to bibliographical and Internet resources concerned with "the storied nature of human conduct" (Sarbin, 1986) broadly conceived. This site is authored by Vincent Hevern, LeMoyne College.

  • National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Represents and supports school psychology to enhance the mental health and competence of all children. A useful resource for members, parents, and educators.

  • PsychCrawler. This index focuses on psychological resources. As of Spring 1999, this site is under-development by the American Psychological Association. It promises to be a important resource, even during this rapid developmental stage.

  • Psych Web. This is an incredible WWW MEGA-site for academic research and study in Psychology. It is maintained by Dr. Russell Dewey, Professor of Psychology at Georgia Southern University. The site contains numerous large subsites which deserve links of their own, namely:

  • PsycPort.com. Designed as a portal for psychology information, PsycPORT features breaking psychology news stories; information on forthcoming and current books; recent tables of contents, abstracts, and some full-text articles for related journals. Also features access to PsychCrawler, the APA's psychology search engine. This search engine currently indexes five organizational sites that have substantial authoritative content in the area of psychology. PsychCrawler searches the Websites of the APA, the National Institute of Mental Health, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the US Department of Health and Human Services, the Center for Mental Health Services, and the APA Help Center.

  • School Psychology Resources Online. Provides more than 1,000 links to information on topics pertinent to school psychologists, educators, and parents.

  • Social Psychology Network. Enormous collection of over 5,000 resources social psychology and general psychology. Subject areas, professional information, textbooks, courses, etc. This site is authored by Scott Plous, Wesleyan University.
