General Business
- SIC Code (Standard
Industrial Classification) Search. In this Department of Labor
database, you can easily find Standard Industrial Classification codes,
commonly know as SIC codes. You search the database by keywords, or
by the four-digit SIC code.
- North American
Industry Classification System (NAICS). The NAICS system is a
cooperative effort between Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The system allows for comparisons of business statistics and related
activities across all of North America. This web site will allow students
to lookup the NAICS code and know its SIC equivalent.
Management Specific
- CareerPath.com. The Sunday
ads for employees from six major newspapers are searchable by discipline,
keyword, and date.
- CareerWEB. A comprehensive of
list of prospective employers can be browsed by subject, location,
and employer.
- Electronic Yellow Pages for Business. Addresses, fax numbers,
phone numbers, key personnel, gross sales, approximate number of employees,
and a host of other information is available from the Web sites listed
below. Collectively, the Web sites listed below are an "electronic
yellow pages" for business researchers. Experienced researchers will
consult more than one of these Web sites to verify relevant information.
These sites do not provide annual report like information.

INFORMATION SCIENCE (GIS) Sites. This is the web address for the
CSU GIS Specialty Center that focuses on the methods and the technologies
for GIS based research including business related applications.
- iWORLD's guide to Electronic
Commerce. This site contains a great deal of information concerning
the relationship of commerce to the Internet and has many links to
sites with useful business information.
- Quicken.com Glossary.
This is an excellent basic business dictionary brought to you by Quicken,
one of the leaders in personal and small business money management
software.

TradeWave Galaxy. Good starting point for subjects related to
business administration, investment, marketing and sales, and business
organizations.
- UC-Santa Cruz Technology
Lab This is the web address for the UC-Santa Cruz Technology
Lab and their lists of recommended web sites, many of which are especially
helpful for business and economics related research. Please remember
that GIS software applications for business analysis of data cost
about $500 and include BusinessMap 3.5, MapPoint 2004, and Maptitude
4.7.
- U.S. Small Business Administration
(SBA). Contains diverse information on topics from starting a
business to expanding an existing business. Also contains links to
the Office of Women's Ownership and to Great Business Hot-Links! This
is a collection of Internet sites of highest interest to business.
- Yahoo's Business Resources.
Business Resources are divided into categories including directories,
electronic commerce, management issues, and small-business information.
- For additional information, please visit these highly regarded business
libraries. Many are associated with academic institutions and their
Colleges of Business while others are public libraries or highly specialized
libraries.
