Academic Web Links - Useful for Library Research

• Artcyclopedia  Aims for the status of the “most definitive…guide to museum-quality fine art on the Internet”.   As of May 2001, provided links to more than 80,000 works by more than 7,500 artists, largely via museum sites.  Emphasis is on painting and sculpture, but links to photography, installation art, video art, digital and web-based art, folk art, outsider art and architecture are included in some measure.  Largely organized by artist name, works can also be located under movement, medium, subject and nationality of artist.

• Art Source  A gathering point for networked resources on Art and Architecture.   Content is diverse and includes pointers to resources around the Internet as well as original materials submitted by librarians, artists, and art historians, etc. Subjects covered include:  art journals online, art and architecture programs, electronic exhibitions, image  collections, and museum information
  
  

• California Arts Project  A resource for educators in the visual and performing arts, the TCAP (one of the California Subject Matter Projects) is administered by the Univ. of California.  Provides links to a variety of events, workshops and seminars.  Emphasis
  is on networking among teachers, “teachers teaching teachers”.

• Internet ArtResources Online since February 1995 and dynamically updated, Internet ArtResources has been recognized as an exceptional web site by no less than ten reviewing entities.   Link categories include original feature articles, galleries, artists, museums, reviews, an image catalog and “The Latest”.  This site will keep you hip to the latest in mainstream and offbeat art, with some original content not to be found elsewhere.
   
• Museums Around the World.  An eclectic guide to planet-wide online museum resources, organized largely by geography.
  
  

• World Wide Art Resources  Provides links to discussion forums, art chats, classified ads and resume postings as well as the standard links to artists, museums, galleries, art news, art history, etc.  Democratically invites you to submit/register your own art website with the meta-site.  Advertisements and other “marketplace” contents abound.
