Workshops, Tours & Classes
The Library offers workshops,
tours
and
classes
for learning library research skills. Please sign up or drop in for
any of these sessions.
Workshops
- Database
In the first few weeks of each quarter the Library provides
workshops.
The workshops provide the basics to help save you time and avoid headaches
when searching for books and articles online. These workshops are
first-come, first-serve, and no priority seating.
- APA & MLA
We also provide workshops
on how to use the APA and MLA style manuals. These workshops
are first-come, first-serve, and no priority seating.
- Thesis
The Library also offers
graduate thesis
workshops which cover physical formatting, submission
requirements, and important deadlines for the quarter.
Tours
In the first few weeks of every fall quarter the Library provides general
tours.
Tours are designed as an orientation to the Library's many services,
collections and other resources. Students attending an orientation tour
as part of a class assignment can receive written verification of attendance
upon request. You do NOT need to register for these tours in advance.
Classes
- Library 250, Research Skills Course
Library 250 is taught by Library faculty with extensive reference
and instruction experience. Classes consist of lectures, discussions,
and hands-on computer laboratories. You can find the course schedule
in Schedule
of Classes online or the printed
class schedule.
- Course-Integrated Library Instruction
Course-integrated
library instruction classes are designed to prepare you for
your assignments. Generally, professors make arrangements with the
Library for such sessions. You should come to this type of library
session with a defined topic and basic understanding of your information
needs and requirements.
