Teresa Portilla Omidsalar Program Description The Division of Special Education within the Charter College of Education offers a graduate program of study leading to either an educational specialist teaching credential and/or a graduate degree. Preparation is offered for teachers and various specialists in special education, rehabilitation, and related services. A doctoral program in Special Education is offered jointly with UCLA for those seeking preparation to teach at the university level and to serve in other leadership roles. The graduate program in Special Education provides both a Master of Arts degree with eleven options, three certificates, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. The Master of Arts in Special Education is offered with options in: Autism; Early Childhood Education; Facilitating Behavior Change; Gifted Education; Inclusion Facilitator; Mild/Moderate Disabilities; Moderate/Severe Disabilities; Multicultural/Multilingual Special Education; Physical and Health Impairments; Resource Specialist in Special Education; Transition Studies; and Visual Impairment and Blindness. Certificates are offered in: Autism; Early Childhood Special Education; and Resource Specialist in Special Education.

Some historical materials are selectively chosen. Geographical Coverage Materials are generally collected in English language and focus on practices in the U. S. and other English-speaking countries. Materials discussing aspects of special education in other countries are selectively purchased. Other Resources Students working towards degrees in Special Education are also supported by materials selected by other academic divisions, departments or programs, such as Child and Family Studies, Psychology, and Educational Foundations and Interdivisional Studies.
