Program Description

Religious Studies is a minor administered by the Department of History. The program is designed to explore the forms and traditions of religion that have appeared in human culture.

Chronological Coverage

Emphasis is on history of religions. Material is also selected for cotemporary religious topics as they relate to health, gender, emotion, conflicts/war, and technology.

Geographical Coverage

Emphasis is on Christianity. Materials on other religions are also selected as required and when needs arise. For example, books on Islam are collected since the September 11.

Other Resources

Students minoring in Religious Studies are supported by materials in related subjects, most notably in the areas of history and ethnic studies.
