Program Description

The Division of Educational Foundations and Interdivisional Studies (EFIS) is primarily a graduate division consisting of four major subdivisions—Educational Foundations; Educational and Instructional Technology; Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages; and Educational Administration.  Please note that the Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Urban Learning is covered by Teresa Omidsalar, the Liaison

Librarian to the Division of Curriculum & Instruction.

EFIS offers Master’s of Arts degrees in Education with options  in Computer Education and Technology Leadership; Educational Foundations; New Media Design and Production; Teaching Speakers of Other Languages; and Educational Administration with specializations in either Educational Leadership or in School Business Administration.  In addition, the Division in conjunction with the University of California, Irvine supports a joint EdD in Educational Administration and Leadership.

Additionally, the Division offers Certificates in Computer Applications in Schools and in English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL).  It also supports credentials in Preliminary Administrative Services and Professional Administrative Services.

Chronological Coverage

Emphasis is placed on contemporary issues, however some historical materials are selectively chosen.

Geographical Coverage

Primary focus is on the United States.  Materials discussing comparative educational systems worldwide are selectively purchased.

Other Resources

Students and faculty use to some extent the Federal Depository Library Program and the California Depository System.

Users are also supported by materials selected by Teresa Omidsalar, the Liaison

to the Charter College of Education, Division of Special Education and the Division of Curriculum & Instruction.
