Workbooks and Data Files
Self-paced workbooks are available for the major applications in the Microsoft Office 2003 suite (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word). Workbooks are divided into three to six major parts, with each part containing multiple lessons. Each lesson is usually associated with a specific topic (or various aspects of a single topic). A user is able to work through practical examples of the topic illustrated by employing clear and concise step-by-step instructions. In most cases, the step-by-step instructions utilize data files that are provided in conjunction with the workbooks. To view or print any lesson, select the lesson number in the lesson column from the tables below. For additional help, please review the downloading instructions handout.

Upgrading from Office XP to Office 2003
Microsoft Office 2003 now includes new features for integrating applications so that people can work collectively on joint projects. Office 2003, with its emphasis on collaboration, provides the tools for workers to communicate with each other and share ideas and documents across application formats.

Microsoft Access 2003
Microsoft Access 2003 is a computerized Database Management System (DBMS). It allows for storing, organizing, searching, and sorting large amounts of data. Access has features such as forms and reports which allow for different methods of data presentation. This workbook is divided into six parts.
- Part one introduces Access and explains the fundamentals of a DBMS. You will learn how to create the basic database object, the table and how to navigate the program.
- Part two demonstrates how to modify the properties of the table, using hyperlink fields, and sorting and replacing data.
- Part three explains how to create relationships between tables, analyzing the efficiency of the database, and retrieving data by using queries.
- Part four will explain the different types of queries that can be used. Queries can be designed to create tables, update information, or append and delete information.
- Part five explains everything about forms. Learn how to create, and input data via a form. Also, learn how to modify the form by adding images and changing the background.
- Part six will detail the steps for creating a report, including using the report wizard, and using design view. Also in part six, how to use some of Access’ more advanced database features.

Microsoft Excel 2003
Microsoft Excel 2003 is a software application that can be used as a spreadsheet, database, or graph program. Excel spreadsheet allows you to perform sophisticated calculations by using formulas and functions. You can use Excel database to manage list of records. You can use the information stored in Excel to create charts for a presentation. This workbook is divided into six parts.
- In part one, you will learn some basic workbook skills such as creating and saving a new workbook, opening an existing workbook, editing cell entries and printing. Also, you will learn how to work with data ranges.
- In Part two, you will learn how to make your worksheet stand out using a variety of text and number formats. We will also teach you how to format cells, and how to apply conditional formats.
- In part three, you will learn how to manage large worksheets and multiple worksheets. Also learn how to manipulate columns and rows within a worksheet, how to copy and move data, as well as the way worksheets can be managed.
- Part four introduces the power of using Formulas and Functions in your worksheets. Learn to create formulas that automatically update large amount of calculation, or create nested functions that perform logical decisions. Also, learn to use the Paste Special feature.
- In Part five, learn how to use the information created in an Excel spreadsheet to create a variety of Excel charts such as Bar, Line, and Pie by using the Chart Wizard. You will also learn how to edit and modify the chart, including how to draw an object in your chart or spreadsheet.
- In Part Six, you will learn how to use an Excel worksheet to create and store a database. Once you create a database, you can enter, edit, filter, or sort the data. You will also be able to practice how to use the Page Setup.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2003
Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 is a graphic presentation application that produces dynamic and powerful presentations. You can use PowerPoint to create, edit and print out a visually appealing presentation for formal, informal, and online presentations. This workbook is divided into six parts.
- Part one is particularly helpful for beginner users. Learn the basics of PowerPoint, covering the PowerPoint interface, menu and tool bars overview, basic presentation skills, design templates, slide layouts, color schemes, and using the Slide Sorter view.
- In part two, learn how to change the font type/size/style, and text alignment. Also learn how to create a numbered and bulleted list, as well as how to create and edit a table in slides.
- In part three, make your presentation more interesting and enticing by including drawing objects and graphic images. You will also learn how to insert a Clip Art image and a picture from file. You will also learn about PowerPoint's printing features.
- In part four, you will learn how to apply PowerPoint features to create, edit, and format charts. You will also learn how to import a chart from an Excel workbook.
- In part five, you will learn how to animate slides and individual objects, set up animation timing, and insert sounds in your presentation. Also, you will learn how to expand your slide show with hyperlinks and how to format a presentation for the Web.
- In part six, you will learn how to use slide masters to control the overall look of the slides in a presentation, and how to use handout masters to control slides printouts. You will also learn how to export outlines and presentation slides to Word.

- Part one explores basic Word document skills such as editing, printing, and using the Help task pane and the Office Assistant.
- Part two examines ways of effectively formatting characters, paragraphs, and documents as well as ways of creating and editing formatting styles.
- Part three looks at the use of tab stops, paragraph indentations, and numbering and bulleting lists.
- Part four delves into methods of managing documents using various document views, headers and footers, and page and section breaks.
- Part five is a detailed look at the various features used for designing, editing, and enhancing the look of a table. It also examines ways of importing, linking, creating, and editing Excel worksheets.
- Part six explores Word Helpers such as templates and wizards, the Research task pane, and graphics.
