Microsoft Office 2007 Workbooks and Data Files

This page contains downloadable workbooks and data files for the major applications in the Microsoft Office 2007 suite (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). The files are password protected and can be accessed by current CSULA faculty and staff with a valid NIS or CSLA account.

The workbooks are divided into six parts, with each part containing multiple lessons. Most lessons come with data files that can be used to follow along with the step-by-step instructions.

Exploring New Features

The workbooks in the Moving Up series are designed to help make the transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007 smoother for all users who plan to upgrade. Each title introduces the new user interface and covers the basics and new features to help you get started with Office 2007.

  1. Moving Up to Office 2007 - Access includes lessons on exploring Access, creating and working with tables, finding and filtering data, working with queries and recordsets, forms, and reports.
  2. Moving Up to Office 2007 - Excel includes lessons on exploring new Excel features as well as using formula, sort and filtering, table, PivotTable, conditional formatting, graphic, file format, and help features.
  3. Moving Up to Office 2007 - PowerPoint includes lessons on using the Office 2007 interface, enhancing typography, slide layouts, graphic images, tables, and charts, using SmartArt, inserting a photo album, and sharing your presentation.
  4. Moving Up to Office 2007 - Word includes lessons on customizing Word preferences, using spell checker, quick parts, SmartArt, chart creation, and mail merge features, and working with revisions and comments.

Microsoft Office Access 2007 is an easy-to-use relational database management system. It provides a powerful set of tools that help you to quickly start tracking, reporting, and sharing information. This workbook is divided into six parts.

  1. Part one is called Introduction to Access 2007 and includes lessons on exploring Access, creating, working with, and editing tables, and printing data.
  2. Part two is called Presenting Data and includes lessons on modifying tables, using Access and the Internet, finding and filtering data, and setting field properties.
  3. Part three is called Using Tables and Queries and includes lessons on creating relationships, analyzing tables, using simple queries, modifying query results, and using operators in queries.
  4. Part four is called Working with Queries and includes lessons on creating action queries, using advanced query wizards, designing advanced queries, and modifying query results.
  5. Part five is called Using Forms and includes lessons on creating basic forms, using design view, advanced form design, and subforms/subreports, and manipulating form controls in design view.
  6. Part six is called Creating Reports and includes lessons on creating basic reports, using advanced report design, advanced database features, and charts, and exporting data.

Microsoft Office Excel 2007 is a powerful tool you can use to create and format spreadsheets, create charts, and analyze and share information. This workbook is divided into six parts.

  1. Part one is called Introduction to Excel 2007 and includes lessons on exploring Excel, using basic workbook skills and page setup, working with ranges, printing, and getting help.
  2. Part two is called Formatting Worksheets and includes lessons on formatting text, numbers, and cells, using conditional and custom formats, and templates.
  3. Part three is called Working with Worksheets and includes lessons on working with columns and rows, and multiple worksheets, using large worksheets and worksheet protection, and managing worksheets.
  4. Part four is called Using Formulas and Functions and includes lessons on creating simple formulas, copying, moving, and managing data, working with data series, and using advanced functions.
  5. Part five is called Creating Charts and includes lessons on creating and formatting charts, using advanced charting features, drawing an object, and using additional effects and objects.
  6. Part six is called Working with Tables and Filters and includes lessons on working with tables and advanced filters, using AutoFilter, and exporting and importing data.

  1. Part one is called Introduction to PowerPoint 2007 and includes lessons on exploring PowerPoint, using basic presentation skills, slide show view, and slide sorter view, and working with presentations.
  2. Part two is called Formatting a Presentation and includes lessons on formatting, editing, and proofing presentation text, and using the outline tab.
