An IT Trainer is responsible for conducting various workshops that the ITS Training Program provides for the campus community. Responsibilities include researching and developing workshop topics that are frequently requested by campus users.
Qualifications
An IT Trainer must be a team player with above average computer skills, good communication and leadership skills as well as the ability to effectively work with a multicultural student population. IT Trainers must be prompt, reliable, be able to take initiative, and willing to learn new skills and concepts. He/she must possess an overall understanding of the goals and services offered by the ITS Training Program.
Duties
- Have the ability to lecture from prepared text and slide shows.
- Clearly present step-by-step instructions to a group of participants.
- Be able to instruct for a 90-minute period of time.
- Possess good presentation skills.
- Possess good organizational skills.
- Prioritize tasks.
- Be able to take initiative.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times while working.
- Have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Develop and/or modify workshop instructional materials.
- Develop and/or modify workshop lecture notes.
- Develop and/or modify PowerPoint slide shows.
- Be willing to learn new technical concepts.
- Cross-train other IT Trainers and IT Trainer Assistants.
- Maintain a neat and orderly computer training lab and working environment.
- Be responsible and knowledgeable in on-going projects and updated instructional materials.
- Attend quarterly meetings with supervisors and other colleagues.
- Participate in relevant University events to promote services offered by the Training Program and ITS.
- Display and exhibit proper code of conduct to students and co-workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Evaluation
Periodic performance evaluations are done by the Training Coordinator in addition to the first quarter probation.
