How to Create a Web Folder in Windows 2000
Faculty can connect to their Web Directory on Instructional1 by creating a Web Folder connection. Web folders allow you to modify the content on a server as if it were right on your own computer. Also available are instructions for Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Mac OS X.
Step-by-step Instructions
-
Open
Windows Explorer. -
Select My Network Places within the Folders pane.

-
Double-Click on
Add Network Place from the right pane. -
The Add Network Place Wizard will open.

-
Type in the full URL for your Web folder on Instructional1
(i.e. http://instructional1.calstatela.edu/jsmith).
-
Click on the Next button.
-
You will be prompted to login.
-
Enter your AD Username and Password. Add the prefix AD\ to your Username. When done, click on OK.
NOTE: Each time you access the Web Folder, you will be asked to login. Check the Save this password in your password list box if you want your computer to automatically log you in.

-
Type in a name for the connection to your Web folder. You may leave the default name if you like.
-
Click on the Finish button.
-
Your computer will open a new Windows Explorer window with the contents of your Web Folder.
-
Within the first Windows Explorer window, a shortcut to the Web folder is available through My Network Places. The Web folder will remain on your computer until you delete the connection.

If you experience any problems connecting to your Web Folder on Instructional1, please contact the Web Administrator.
