Inserting a Photo into Your Faculty Web Page

Photo Placeholder

The web page that is generated when submitting the Faculty Web Page Request Form contains a photo placeholder image like the one shown on the left. To replace the placeholder image with your own photo, upload the photo into your faculty web directory and follow the instructions below. Instructions are available for both FrontPage and Dreamweaver.

Note: We do not recommend using a picture that is more than 110 pixels wide.


FrontPage Users

  1. Connect to your faculty web directory (view instructions on how to connect).
  2. Open your web page in FrongPage.
  3. Double-click on the photo placeholder image in the left column of your web page. The Picture Properties dialog box will open.

  4. Click on the General tab.

  5. Under Picture source, click on the Browse... button and select your photo file from your faculty web directory.
  6. Under Alternative representations, replace the content in the Text field with your own alternative text.
  7. Click on the OK button.
  8. Save your web page.

Dreamweaver Users

  1. Connect to your faculty web directory (view instructions on how to connect).
  2. Open your web page in Dreamweaver.
  3. Select the photo placeholder image in the left column of your web page.
  4. Click on the Modify menu and select Edit Tag... The Tag Editor dialog box will open.

  5. Click on the Browse... button next to the Source field and select your photo file from your faculty web directory.
  6. Hightlight the text in the Alternate Text field and replace it with your own alternative text.
  7. Click on the OK button.
  8. Save your web page.
