1-Step Backup from Iomega
1-Step Backup easily backs up data files from the hard drive to Zip or
Jaz disks.
Why do you need to backup?
Data is very important. It is very easy to lost data due to file corruption. Backup can
help you save data work from hardware failure, accidental delete, etc. Almost everyone has
looked for a file only to discover that it has been accidentally deleted. With a good
backup routine data is protected from such mishaps. 1-Step Backup for Zip &
Jaz has been designed so you can locate and restore files as you need them.
Required privileges
You must have Administrator privileges to operate 1-Step Backup.
If you are not sure or don't have Administrator privileges, please ask your
School ITC for assistance.
How to save data
Before starting with backup and restore, you should first save your data. First,
centralize the location where you save all data. Most software have their default save
directories, but they might be different from each other. For example, some software
default the save directory to the same directory as the program and some default to
c:\winnt\profiles\username\personal (like Microsoft Office 97). It makes backup slow and
difficult. We suggestion you create a directory, e.g. \DATA, and save all your file into
that directory. In this directory, you can create a sub-directory to catalog different
subjects. If your workstation has two hard drives, create your \DATA directory on the
second hard drive. When you save a new created document, also change to this \DATA
directory.
