Requesting Web Space
Web space is available on the University web server (www.calstatela.edu) for publishing educational, research, and other academic related material. Web space may be requested by Cal State L.A. student clubs and organizations, faculty, colleges, departments, centers, bureaus, and institutes. Requests may take up to 3 business days to process.
Note: All users who need to access the University web server must have a UNIX account. UNIX accounts can be obtained by visiting the ITS Help Desk which is located in the Library Palmer Wing Lobby.
Faculty may request web space for publishing academic biographies, achievements, course content, research, and grants.
- Faculty who wish to have a web page automatically generated for them, based on University web page template, should submit the Faculty Web Page Request Form.
- Faculty who wish to design their own web site on the University web server need to submit the Faculty Web Space Request Form.
- Faculty who wish to create an online course or publish course related material need to submit the Moodle Shell Request Form provided by the Center for Effective Teaching and Learning (CETL).
- Faculty who wish to post online course material and are in need of a Windows based server can submit a request for Web Space on the Instructional Web Server.
Colleges and Departments
To request web space for a college or department, the college dean or the department chair needs to submit the Web Space Request Form. One person needs to assume responsibility for the content published on the site. This person should be listed as the owner on the form. Other individuals needing access to the web space should be listed under group.
Centers, Bureaus, Institutes, Projects, and Grants
To request web space for a center, bureau, institute, special project or grant, the director or main administrator of the area needs to submit the Web Space Request Form. One person needs to assume responsibility for the content published on the site. This person should be listed as the owner on the form. Other individuals needing access to the web space should be listed under group.
Student Clubs and Organizations
To request web space for a recognized Cal State L.A. student club or organization, the President or Vice President of the club or organization needs to submit the Student Club and Organization Web Space Request Form.
Note: Before requesting web space, the President or the Vice President must obtain a UNIX account for the club or organization from the ITS Help Desk.
