The Desktop Services and Baseline/Maintenance groups have a number of activities planned during the August break (August 1 -17). There will be some software upgrades and updates in Open Access Labs (OALs), Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TECs) and Electronic Classrooms (ECs), and Baseline refreshes for some Electronic Classrooms. Baseline/Maintenance group will perform maintenance of OALs, ECs, TECs and service areas.
Open Access Labs, Technology Enhanced Classrooms and Electronic Classrooms software upgrades and updates
The software updates include update to existing software for OALs, TECs and ECs and Microsoft Office upgrade to Office 2016. King Hall Link and Salazar Hall Link will have the latest Windows 10 Enterprise OS. Some rows of computers in Annex Link, ECST Link and Student Union Link will have Windows 10 Enterprise OS.
Electronic Classrooms and Library Baseline Refresh
- Library Lecture 2 will be replaced with HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini i5-3.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and Windows 10 Enterprise OS.
- ECST A210, A220, A309 and B9 with be replaced with HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF i5-3.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Windows 10 Enterprise OS.
- Forensic Lab with be replaced with HP EliteDesk 800 G2 SFF i5-3.2GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and Windows 10 Enterprise OS.
- MUS 211 will be replaced with iMac 27” Retina 5K, 3.2GHz i5, 512GB Flash Storage, 32GB RAM and Mac OS El Capitan.
Given that dirt and dust are the prime enemies of electronic equipment, all ECs, TECs, and service area computers, peripherals and other related equipment are cleaned and tested every semester break.
