Be in the Know with ITS Alerts

Image: communications towerImplemented by Information Technology Services (ITS) in fall 2003, the online ITS Alerts service (www.calstatela.edu/its/alerts) is the place to go for detailed bulletins and advisories on:

  • Network and System Outages
  • Network and System Status
  • Planned System Maintenance
  • Scams
  • Virus Alerts

Anatomy of an ITS Alert

Each ITS alert contains this valuable information:

  • Alert (description or explanation of the situation)
  • Category (the kind of alert this is)
  • Severity:
    • No Impact
    • Low-Priority
    • Moderate-Priority
    • High-Priority
    • Critical
  • Impact (a description of the effect this situation has on the campus)
  • Resolution (what is being done to resolve the situation)
  • Resolution Time (expected date and time the situation will be resolved)
  • User Action (any required actions that users should take)
  • Contact (the go-to person for this alert)
  • Extension (contact’s campus telephone extension)

Alerts in Your Inbox

Brief notifications of ITS Alerts can be sent directly to your e-mail inbox or mobile device. All you have to do is subscribe to receive notices for any or all of the available alert categories.

The e-mail will contain the alert, when it was posted, a link to the ITS Alerts Web site, and an “unsubscribe” link if you want to cancel your subscription.

An important Service

Be informed of network and e-mail situations and problems that impact campus users. Check the ITS Alerts web page often, or, better yet, subscribe to get alerts delivered directly to your inbox or mobile device. Read current alerts, check previously posted alerts, and subscribe to the notification service at the ITS Alerts Web site: www.calstatela.edu/its/alerts.
