E-mail / Public Folders System Upgrade and Migration: Frequently Asked Questions

What is the impact of the e-mail migration on me?

E-mail migration will be transparent to the user. However, operational performance will be improved, and users will experience a faster, more secure, and more stable e-mail system.

What is the difference between my e-mail account now and after migration?

The only difference is that Outlook Web Access (OWA) 2003 is enhanced. Users will be able to read, forward, print, move, and delete messages as they normally do. Additionally, storage in mailboxes and Public Folders, including sub-folders in each, will be increased to 2 gigabytes as a system standard.

How will I know when my mailbox has been migrated?

The migration schedule is posted on the Outlook Web site.

How can I find out how much storage space my mailbox or Public Folder, including sub-folders, is using?

When you are in your Inbox or top-level Public Folder, select File ► Folder ► Properties for "foldername"... from the menu bar.  The Foldername Properties dialog box appears.  Click on the General tab, then click on the Folder Size... button.  The sizes for the folder (without sub-folders), the total (including sub-folders), and each individual sub-folder will display.

How will I know when my mailbox is approaching the 2 gigabyte storage limit?

The system will email you a warning notice when you are approaching the maximum storage limit.  You will get the notice in plenty of time to lower the size of your mailbox by deleting or archiving messages from it.
